About Haimanot Kasahun Alemu

Dr. Haimanot Kasahun Alemu is a clinical oncologist currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Oncology at St. Paul’s Hospital Millennium Medical College (SPHMMC).

She graduated with a degree in Medicine from the University of Gondar (UOG) in 2014, where she played a pivotal role in establishing the oncology unit, and pioneering cancer care in the region.

Currently, at SPHMMC, she is deeply involved in teaching, clinical practice, and research activities. Dr. Alemu is a founding and Executive Member of the Ethiopian Society of Oncology and Hematology (ESHO), where she has contributed significantly to its international recognition and collaboration efforts.

She is also engaged with the African Organization for Research and Training in Cancer (AORTIC) and serves as the Chair of the Medical Oncology Special Interest Group (SIG). Dr. Alemu is the recipient of the IDEA 2024 Award, recognizing her outstanding contributions to oncology.
