Closing the Gap: PTCy Boosts Survival After Mismatched Stem Cell Transplants
Summary:
In a multicenter phase II trial, post-transplant cyclophosphamide (PTCy)-based GVHD prophylaxis enabled strong 1-year survival outcomes in patients receiving peripheral blood stem cell transplants from HLA-mismatched unrelated donors (MMUDs).
Among 145 patients – 59% from underrepresented groups – 1-year overall survival reached 83.8% (MAC) and 78.6% (RIC/NMA), with low rates of severe GVHD.
Outcomes were comparable regardless of the degree of mismatch. These findings suggest PTCy regimens can safely expand donor access across all ethnic backgrounds.”
