About ECOG Score Calculator

ECOG Score Calculator is a clinical tool used to measure a patient’s level of functioning and ability to carry out daily activities, particularly in oncology. It helps clinicians assess how a disease—especially cancer—affects a patient’s quality of life and tolerance to treatments like chemotherapy.

Score Categories:

  • 0 (highlighted in green) – Fully active, able to carry on all pre-disease activities without restriction.
  • 1 (highlighted in green) – Restricted in physically strenuous activity but ambulatory and able to perform light work.
  • 2 (highlighted in orange) – Ambulatory and capable of all self-care but unable to carry out any work activities; up and about more than 50% of waking hours.
  • 3 (highlighted in orange) – Capable of only limited self-care; confined to bed or chair more than 50% of waking hours.
  • 4 (highlighted in red) – Completely disabled; cannot carry out any self-care; totally confined to bed or chair.
  • 5 (highlighted in red) – Death.

The ECOG score is commonly used in cancer trials and treatment planning to determine patient eligibility and predict tolerance to therapy.
