July is Sarcoma Awareness Month
July is Sarcoma Awareness Month!
July is Sarcoma Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about a rare but aggressive group of cancers that arise in the bones and soft tissues.
Sarcomas are unique in their complexity, affecting a diverse range of tissues, including muscles, fat, blood vessels, nerves, and even cartilage.
Despite their rarity, with approximately 1% of adult and 15% of pediatric cancers being sarcomas, their impact on patients and families is profound.
This month is an opportunity to highlight the importance of early detection, innovative research, and support for those affected. It provides a platform for survivors to share their stories, fostering a sense of hope and solidarity.
According to the National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), Sarcomas can be classified into:
- Chondrosarcoma
- Osteosarcoma
- Rhabdomyosarcoma
- Liposarcoma
- Ewing Sarcoma
- Angiosarcoma and more….
