MASCC 2025 Presidential Training Fellowship Spotlight: Dr. Jeff Hanna
MASCC 2025 Presidential Training Fellowship recognizes one of seven rising oncology leaders, with OncoDaily featuring Dr. Jeff Hanna, a physician–scientist dedicated to improving patient outcomes through both clinical care and groundbreaking research.
About Dr. Jeff Hanna
Dr. Hanna’s research spans cancer, end-of-life, and bereavement care, with a unique focus on family-centred cancer care, especially when an adult caregiver for children is diagnosed with cancer. His projects include developing evidence-based eLearning tools to equip health and social care professionals to better support families at end of life, as well as pioneering studies into suicide ideation in head and neck cancer.
Beyond his research, Dr. Hanna serves as the UKONS Champion for Northern Ireland, sits on the Editorial Advisory Board of Palliative Medicine, and contributes to the Services Development Committee for Cancer Fund for Children, reflecting his commitment to integrating research, education, and service into practice.
In his latest interview with Oncodaily, he stated:
“I’m looking forward to networking and collaborating with the MASCC network and contributing towards the Supportive Care 2030 Ambition Statements from the perspective of a nurse.”
Shaping the Future of Supportive Cancer Care
Dr. Hanna’s recognition as a MASCC 2025 Fellow reflects his commitment to redefining supportive oncology, not as an adjunct, but as an essential foundation of cancer care. Through the Fellowship, he will collaborate with international peers to help embed MASCC’s 2030 Supportive Care Statements into practice, driving forward initiatives that place patient well-being at the center of oncology worldwide.
