Solange Peters Honored with the IASLC Paul A. Bunn, Jr. Scientific Award 2025
The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), a global organization dedicated to eradicating thoracic malignancies, has announced its 2025 Distinguished Service Award recipients. Among the four exceptional honorees, Solange Peters, MD, PhD, has been awarded the distinguished Paul A. Bunn, Jr. Scientific Award, recognizing her lifetime achievement in thoracic cancer research.
About the Paul A. Bunn, Jr. Scientific Award
The Paul A. Bunn, Jr. Scientific Award honors IASLC scientists for their lifetime contributions to thoracic cancer research. The award is named after Dr. Paul Bunn, whose pioneering studies established global standards for lung cancer treatment and advanced understanding of disease progression, prognosis, and therapy selection through biomarkers.
The first recipient, Robert Ginsberg, MD, a thoracic surgeon from Toronto, Canada, was recognized in 1994 for his groundbreaking work in the surgical management of early-stage lung cancer. Originally called the Scientific Award, it was later renamed in Dr. Bunn’s honor following his 10-year tenure as IASLC executive director and CEO, reflecting his profound impact on the field.
