Muna Al-Khaifi: The Potential Efficacy of Multimodal Psychological Interventions in Alleviating Postoperative Pain in Breast Cancer Survivors
Muna Al-Khaifi, GP oncologist at Sunnybrook and Assistant Professor at University of Toronto, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I am thrilled to share the publication of our systematic review titled ‘Efficacy of Multimodal Psychological Interventions on Pain After Surgery in Breast Cancer Survivors.’
I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all my colleagues and mentors from the Survivorship Study Group who dedicated their time and expertise to contribute to this important work. Postoperative pain is prevalent in individuals undergoing breast cancer surgery, significantly impacting their health-related quality of life.
Our Systematic review highlights the potential efficacy of multimodal psychological interventions in alleviating postoperative pain in this population. Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), despite being the most frequently studied intervention, was not found to produce statistically significant reductions in pain levels among breast cancer survivors.”
