Galip Can Uyar, Medical Doctor at Etlik City Hospital, shared a post on X about a paper by Cristiane Decat Bergerot et al. published in Cancer:
“Just published in Cancer
A randomized controlled trial in Brazil tested GAIN-S (geriatric assessment–guided supportive care) in older adults with metastatic cancer.
Key Findings:
- Improved prognostic awareness in emotional & adaptive domains
- Better coping with uncertainty & emotional acceptance
- No change in cognitive awareness (curability perception)
- Telehealth delivery enhanced accessibility
Clinical impact: GA-guided supportive care can strengthen resilience and support more informed, values-based decision-making in older adults with advanced cancer.”
