Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“According to The Lancet Group findings, the need for supportive care has grown exponentially — not just because of rising cancer cases, but because of a shift in public expectations.
People expect:
- Truthful, empathic communication between providers, patients and families
- Shared decision-making at every step
- Care that recognises the person, not just the disease
- Relief from suffering, with attention to physical and psychological wellbeing throughout the experience
Yet, most cancer centres remain under-equipped to meet these needs and make people-centred care a reality. This has to change.”
