About the Award
The Dorothy Schachne Partners in Progress Award is named in memory of Dorothy Schachne, a passionate advocate for people living with cancer and a key supporter of initiatives focused on patient-centered services.
This award recognizes organizations and individuals who have made outstanding contributions to improving the lives of cancer patients, particularly through partnerships that advance care, support, and innovation.
Why This Recognition Matters
ASCO’s partnership with CancerCare underscores a shared commitment to improving patient outcomes, especially in vulnerable and underserved populations.
In their announcement, ASCO said:
“We are incredibly honored! This week, we received the Dorothy Schachne Partners in Progress Award from our valued partners at CancerCare. With our shared focus on patients, we are especially grateful for the essential role CancerCare plays in our collaborative work to improve the lives of people with cancer.”
By combining ASCO’s global leadership in cancer research and practice with CancerCare’s historic role in providing direct support services, the two organizations have enhanced access, education, and holistic care for countless individuals and families affected by cancer.
Michael Parisi, Chief Client Officer at Lumanity, also shared the news as following:
“It was an honor to present ASCO with the Dorothy Schachne Partners in Progess award at tonight’s CancerCare Gala. This award recognizes ASCO commitment and dedication to the highest quality scientific research, ongoing commitment to education and patient advocacy.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude for your outstanding contributions, partnerships and unwavering dedication to improving cancer care globally!”
This recognition highlights not only past achievements but also inspires continued collaboration toward a future where every patient receives equitable, compassionate, and cutting-edge care.
