Carmen Uscatu on promoting comprehensive care and female leadership in paediatric oncology
Carmen Uscatu, Founding Member and President of Give Life, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“How’s that?
I was elected to serve as a Steering Group Member in International Society of Paediatric Oncology – SIOP Women Leaders in Paediatric Oncology (WLPO) for three years.
Behind this achievement is the work:
The work of building a hospital.
The work of promoting what we, Give Life, have accomplished over these years and our vision for the cause of children with cancer: comprehensive care.
What is our vision?
I would say that we will transform the fragmented care system for children with cancer that currently exists in Romania into a system where the patient is at the center of care.
This means comprehensive care but also means that a child with cancer will be treated as a unique person, not just a medical case. It means listening to their needs, respecting their choices, and ensuring they are comfortable and involved in every decision about their health.
The SIOP Network aims to promote female leadership in paediatric oncology and camaraderie among female professionals in global health through public events, role modelling and networking opportunities. The Network aims to contribute to building the next generation of talented female professionals in paediatric oncology.
Through various online/in-person activities, the Network will strengthen bonds among female members of the Society, enable SIOP members to support each other and celebrate female leadership in paediatric oncology.
