20 Posts Not To Miss From IGCS 2026

The 2026 Annual Global Meeting of the International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS 2026) brought the global gynecologic oncology community together from October 1–3, 2026, at the Palais des Congrès de Montréal in Montréal, Canada.

As one of the leading international meetings dedicated to gynecologic cancers, IGCS 2026 provided a multidisciplinary platform for specialists from around the world to exchange the latest scientific evidence, clinical experience, and perspectives on improving care for women with gynecologic malignancies. The program brought together expertise across gynecologic surgery, medical oncology, radiation oncology, pathology, nursing, palliative care, and other disciplines, reflecting the collaborative nature of modern gynecologic cancer care.

Across three days, the meeting featured cutting-edge research, educational sessions, innovative technologies, hands-on learning, and opportunities for international collaboration, with discussions spanning advances in prevention, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and equitable access to high-quality gynecologic cancer care.

Here are 20 posts not to miss from IGCS 2026, capturing key scientific updates, expert perspectives, and memorable moments from the meeting.

Cesaltina Lorenzoni:

” I participated in the International Gynecologic Cancer Society (IGCS) Annual Global Meeting 2026, held from October 1–3 in Montreal, Canada. It was an important opportunity to strengthen collaboration between IGCS and AORTIC-Africa, while also highlighting the challenges and advances in Gynecologic Oncology.

During the meeting , I joined a panel on Pathology, Clinical Oncology and Precision Medicine, addressing the challenges of implementing molecular technologies in resource-limited settings and the need to ensure greater equity in access to cancer care.

I also joined the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program Mentors Workshop. Mozambique has been part of the IGCS program since 2017, as one of the pilot countries. To date, the program has trained five Gynecologic Oncology specialists, while four doctors are currently undergoing training, with completion expected in 2027.

I held meetings with the IGCS leadership, including CEO Mary Eiken, where we discussed strengthening cooperation in training, mentorship and capacity building. I was also invited to contribute to the Pre-Invasive Lesions Course.

This engagement was particularly meaningful given the recognition I received in 2022, when I was awarded the IGCS Award for Community Advancement in Resource-Limited Settings by IGCS.

Overall, IGCS 2026 was an important opportunity to represent Mozambique and Africa through AORTIC, share experiences, and strengthen strategic partnerships aimed at advancing gynecologic oncology and developing specialized human resources.”

Dr Suman S Karanth:

“Some connections begin virtually and come alive in the real world.

Today at IGCS 2026, it was wonderful to finally meet Ilaria Colombo and Ainhoa Madariaga in person.

We first connected virtually through the Onco Wisdom platform by Amol Akhade. Both are doing remarkable work in advancing gynaecological oncology and contributing to the global oncology community.

It reminded me that networking is not about how many people you meet, but about the meaningful connections you build, nurture and carry forward. A virtual introduction can become a real conversation, a collaboration, a friendship — and sometimes, an opportunity to make a difference together.

In today’s connected world, geography may separate us, but meaningful connections bring us closer. Special thanks to Amol Akhade for the great work he does!

P.S : the 2nd photo Is us wondering how we landed up in similar shades of the same pant suit! ”

Leslie C Amendola:

“This year’s IGCS – International Gynecologic Cancer Society brought together some of the brightest minds working across gynecologic cancer research, care and advocacy. The work underway across cervical, endometrial and ovarian cancer is encouraging, as is the commitment to doing more for patients facing these diseases.

For me, the conversations about how women experience care are as important as those about the science. What challenges are they facing? What support do they need? And what can we do together as an oncology community to help?

At Genmab we have a responsibility to listen and bring what we learn into our work. Advancing innovation means also working to help it reach the patients who need it most.”

Michelle Niewood:

“Proud to have represented our gynecologic oncology team at IGCS2026.

It was inspiring to see the breadth of innovation across the field, with researchers, clinicians, and industry partners advancing new potential approaches for patients with gynecologic cancers.

The data Genmab shared reflect years of focused work.

Being on site in Montreal reinforced both the progress being made and the work that still lies ahead.”

“We celebrated a meaningful moment in the IJGCfamily story at the IGCS2026 Annual Global Meeting.

Pedro Ramirez presented his report as Editor-in-Chief and took us on a journey through the history, growth and achievements of our journal. A legacy shaped by vision, dedication and an extraordinary global community.

We were also thrilled to witness René Pareja officially receive the role of Editor-in-Chief. This is not just a transition, but the continuation of a shared mission: advancing knowledge, education, and care in gynecologic oncology.

Thank you Pedro, for your remarkable leadership and for all that you have brought to IJGC.

Congratulations René, we are excited for the next chapter.”

“The Genmab team presented data of our investigational therapies in ovarian cancer. I’m proud of my colleagues who brought this work to the IGCS2026 stage, and grateful to the investigators, patients, and advocates who make this work possible.

I’m excited about the momentum beyond this milestone. As we continue working toward bringing innovative therapies to women with ovarian cancer, we’re learning more about what this therapy could mean for patients who have long needed more options. There’s still a lot of work to do. We’re not done yet.”
