Coordinator: Riccardo Masetti
Working Group: Pediatric Myelodysplastic Syndromes
Position/Center: Prof. of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, The University Hospital of Bologna IRCCS
Prof Riccardo Masetti is a pediatric hematologist and oncologist at the University of Bologna. He obtained his medical degree at the Medical School of the University of Bologna working in the field of pediatric acute myeloid leukemia and then, his PhD in Biotechnology of Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation at the University of Perugia.
His primary research goals are myelodysplastic and myeloproliferative diseases of childhood. He has contributed to the genomic characterization of many subgroups of childhood myeloid disorders, and to many studies aimed at elucidating the role of predisposition in this field.
He was involved in many important clinical trials involving children with MDS/AML. Currently, he is part of numerous international boards including European Working Group of Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) in Childhood of which he is the national coordinator for Italy. The results from his studies in pediatric myelodysplastic syndromes have been published in many high-profile journals.
