Oliver Bogler Announced the Launch of the NanCI AI Webapp for Scientific Literature and Networking
Oliver Bogler, Director of the Center for Cancer Training and the Host of Inside Cancer Careers podcast at the National Cancer Institute (NCI), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Today we launch the NanCI webapp at nanci.cancer.gov!
NanCI is an AI-powered app that helps you manage the scientific literature and find people with shared interests to make your journey as a scientist easier, and more fun.
You declare an area of interest to the AI by bookmarking key papers into a folder and describing exactly what you are focused on. NanCI then keeps an eye out for related papers – but it is not just matching them with keywords, or even vector embeddings – it uses Google’s advanced Gemini models to match the findings of the paper to what you are seeking – and it tells you why it thinks the recommendation is a match – see the text under “Match” in the image.
There’s lots more cool stuff – news, matching with other community members, chat with papers and folders, extraction of key elements from papers like problem, results, takeaways. Also cool is that you can share your folders with the community and follow other user’s folders – think of them like expert scientific playlists!
Developing this app with the AI experts at Barnacle Labs and Google Cloud has been the best experience – and we hope it is useful to you.
