Massimo Di Maio: Standing Ovation for CHALLENGE phase 3 trial at ASCO25
Massimo Di Maio, Associate Professor of Medical Oncology at Department of Oncology, University of Turin, shared a post by NEJM on X, adding:
“Standing ovation for this trial at ASCO25 . Practice changing. The problem could be the adherence to physical exercise. Accrual in the trial was very slow, because many patients refused randomization to exercise, I suppose. Education is crucial.”
Quoting NEJM‘s post:
“Presented at ASCO25:
A 3-year structured exercise program after adjuvant chemotherapy for colon cancer improved disease-free and overall survival, physical functioning, and fitness, as compared with health education alone. Full CHALLENGE phase 3 trial results”
