Robbe Saesen, Scientist at Sciensano, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Attending the European Cancer Summit is always a nice experience, but this year it was extra special for me as I got the chance to be on stage, in front of the (by now legendary) big screen.
Together with the great Nikolina Dodlek, I co-chaired the session organized by the Young Cancer Professionals Group and interviewed two young policy leaders shaping the future of cancer care in their countries and Europe as a whole: Jurgita Sejonienė, a Member of the Lithuanian Parliament, and Sandrine Daoud, spokesperson and advisor for Frank Vandenbroucke, the Belgian Minister for Social Affairs and Public Health.
During this forward-looking session, we tackled key topics, including the Health Care Workforce Crisis, Tobacco Control, HPV Vaccination, and the use of Digital Tools.
Jurgita and Sandrine shared their and their countries’ visions and plans for a better future, displaying their shared commitment to reducing the burden of cancer in Europe. Many thanks to them for their participation and inspiring answers.
Overall, our field is facing many challenges over the coming years (including, not in the least, major budget cuts), but our session showed that with the right people in the right place, we can continue making progress and achieve our long-term goal of getting cancer under control.
Congratulations to Elisabetta Zanon, Miruna-Ioana Guțu, Alberto Hermosel, Fanny Senez and the rest of the European Cancer Organization team for another excellent edition of the Summit. It was an honor to contribute to it.”
