Ingrid Krücken, Patient representative at CNER (National Committee for Research Ethics), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“It was a privilege to take the floor at the European Parliament today, representing EUROPA DONNA – The European Breast Cancer Coalition at the round table organised by Mission Early: ‘Beating Cancer Early: From Evidence to Action.’
A timely and important event, opened by MEP Tomislav Sokol (EPP) and MEP Nicolás González Casares (SandD), whose cross-party commitment to embedding early cancer care into European policy sends a strong signal. Alongside fellow panellists Caroline Berchet (OECD), Antonella Cardone (Cancer Patients Europe), Daniela Moye Holz (RAND Europe), and Matthias Schuppe (DG SANTE) – moderated by Dr Cary Adams (UICC) — we tackled a critical question: 5 years into Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan, how do we fully embed Early Cancer Care?
Two sentences from the Rand report resonate with me: ‘Rebalance funding from late-stage treatments towards prevention and primary care-based diagnosis’ and ‘Build public trust through inclusive , co-created education and communication strategies’.
Europa Donna’s role in this conversation is clear: translating political decisions, screening programmes, and early detection strategies into measured equity data – so that the barriers patients face become visible, quantifiable, and actionable. Because what we can measure, we can change. And what we can change, we can make equitable.
And patient organisations don’t only need a seat at the table. We need to co-design the table. Thank you to Mission Early for creating this space for meaningful dialogue at the heart of European institution!”
