“Yesterday at the European Parliament, the European Cancer Organisation launched the European Women and Cancer Policy Index – a first-of-its-kind tool highlighting how countries across Europe are addressing women’s needs along the cancer pathway.
Hosted by MEP Romana Jerković, the event brought together key stakeholders committed to advancing more equitable cancer policies across Europe.
At Europa Donna, we are proud to have contributed to this important initiative. Our CEO, Marzia Zambon, was part of the expert committee behind the development of the Index, helping ensure that women’s voices and experiences were reflected in this work. We were also honoured to see our Board Member, Dominika Kormanová, take the floor at the event, bringing the patient perspective directly into the discussion. Her intervention was a powerful reminder that behind every policy are real lives and that inequalities in prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment and quality of life still persist for women across Europe.
This must change.
The new Index is a crucial step in identifying these gaps and supporting more equitable, gender-sensitive cancer policies across Europe.
Because every woman deserves the same standard of care, no matter where she lives.
We thank all partners and stakeholders involved in making this initiative possible – and we remain committed to ensuring that the voices of women with breast cancer continue to shape policies and drive change.”
