Elissa Mitchell Quinn, Medical Director, US Cancer Early Detection at AstraZeneca, shared on LinkedIn:
“Cancer has touched my life in very personal ways
I lost my grandfather to lung cancer when I was 17, at a time when there were far fewer treatment options than there are today. Now, as my mother lives with advanced classical Hodgkin lymphoma, I’ve seen just how much progress has been made.
Thanks to innovative treatments like immunotherapy, we’ve been able to share more time, more milestones, and moments we might not otherwise have had. We’re so grateful for that, and for the incredible team caring for her. At the same time, her late diagnosis is a hard reminder that if her cancer had been found earlier, a cure may have been possible. That’s why progress in both treatment and early detection means so much to me.”
