Digestive Cancers Europe (DiCE) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“At the ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology Congress in Berlin, our patient advocate Lāsma Nikolaisone delivered a standout presentation on early-onset cancer in young adults.
She dismantled age-related misconceptions, highlighted gaps in recognition and referral among healthcare professionals (HCPs), and underscored the essential role of psychological support throughout the care pathway.
Lāsma also called for concrete action to close the awareness, care, and support gaps in early-onset digestive cancers, including timely access to precision medicine, improved eligibility and navigation for clinical trials, and the advancement of patient-centred policies, such as Europe’s Right to Be Forgotten, to ensure survivors aren’t penalised long after treatment.”
