Belgian Society of Medical Oncology shared a post on LinkedIn:
“October is the month dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in Belgium, with around 11,000 new diagnoses each year. While less common, it also affects men, with about 100 new cases annually. Fortunately, mortality has been slowly decreasing over the last few decades, thanks to screening campaigns and improved treatments.
Breast cancer screening includes regular breast self – exams (auto – palpation), which should be performed at every age. For women between the ages of 50 and 69, it is also recommended to have a mammogram every two years.
Lifestyle changes that can help reduce the risk of breast cancer include regular physical activity, avoiding alcohol, eating a healthy diet, and maintaining a healthy weight.
Join us in raising awareness and promoting proactive health this Pink October.
