Amanda Impellizzeri: A Personal Reminder for Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Amanda Impellizzeri, Executive Director of 3 Oncology State Societies and Leadership and Society Relations Executive at MJH Life Sciences, shared on LinkedIn:

“October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and as I’ve shared before, this month is very personal to me.

I lost my mom to breast cancer in 1990 when she was just 38 years old. That was before so many of the incredible advances in research, screening, and treatment that we have today.

I’ll always wonder how different life might have looked if the options available today had been available then. There’s no way to know, but I’m incredibly grateful for how far we’ve come and hopeful for how much further we will go.

And here’s the part where I need to take my own advice: I’m late getting my mammogram.

Life gets busy. We take care of work, family, and everything else and sometimes put ourselves further down the list. So October is my reminder to get mine scheduled and hopefully a reminder for someone else who has been putting theirs off too.

Here’s to continued research, earlier detection, better treatments, and more time with the people we love.”
