The Full List of Potential dGOF Projects was Ordered for Pause – National Institutes of Health
National Institutes of Health (NIH) shared a post on X:
“In accordance with Executive Order 14292, the Office of the Director asked NIAID to identify projects that could potentially fall under the definition of dangerous gain of function (dGOF) research.
The NIAID staff identified those projects, but then inappropriately made an assessment to determine which were or were not dGOF research and reduced this list.
Principal Deputy Director Dr. Matthew Memoli corrected NIAID staff to assure that NIH was in compliance with the EO by ordering them to submit the full list for temporary pause. Per the EO, a final determination on these projects will be made according to the OSTP designated oversight policy.”
