Léon First Hosted Mid-Cycle Assessment of C/Can Cancer Care Projects
City Cancer Challenge (C/Can) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Léon became the first of 16 C/Can cities to host the Mid-Cycle Assessment (MCA), a critical milestone that reflects on the progress of 11 ongoing projects and strengthens collaboration with local institutions and stakeholders who make this work possible.
As part of the City Engagement Process Framework (CEPF), the MCA is a key instrument of adaptive project management. It not only tracks progress across the city’s projects but also provides a technical review of their outputs, the most significant changes or achievements to date, and the challenges faced in reaching them. It also helps assess C/Can’s real contribution in balance with that of local actors, and identify what is needed to sustain these changes over time. The MCA provides a comprehensive overview of how the technical cooperation programme is unfolding in the city.
Over five days, C/Can’s team, Alfredo Polo, Martha Ordoñez, Olivia Majorin, and Léon’s City Manager, Elia Lara Lona met with project teams across 11 areas, including Pathology, Pediatric Cancer, Health Systems Coordination, Health Financing, Oncological Surgery, Quality and Safety, Multidisciplinary Teams, Information Systems and Data, Radiotherapy, and Patient Navigation and Palliative care.
‘Conducting the Mid-Cycle Assessment in Léon was a unique opportunity. Engaging with local stakeholders and understanding their challenges and sustainability needs will not only refine activities in Léon, but also strengthen the assessment methodology so it can be applied more effectively in other C/Can cities, – said Alfredo Polo, Director of Technical Cooperation at C/Can.
The key takeaway? Léon’s 11 projects are not isolated efforts; they are working as one cohesive programme to strengthen Léon’s entire cancer care system.
‘It’s inspiring to see public and private stakeholders unite around one mission: strengthening cancer care in Léon. The Mid-Cycle Assessment reaffirmed our commitment to drive sustainable, systemic change in our city and hopefully draw key lessons to inspire others to do the same.’ – said Elia Lara Lona, Léon City Manager.
With one year left in the first cycle of project implementation, stakeholders in Léon are paving the way towards a stronger cancer care system in their city, bringing us closer to making cancer care accessible to everyone, everywhere.
Stakeholders in Léon now embark on the remaining year to complete the first cycle of project implementation, paving the way to make quality cancer care accessible to everyone, everywhere.”
