Eduardo Bruera: Addressing Psychosocial Needs in Young Adult Cancer Patients
Eduardo Bruera, Chair of the Department of Palliative, Rehabilitation and Integrative Medicine and Medical Director of the Supportive Care Center at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“In a study of 896 cancer inpatients, young adults (18–39) had more psychiatric history, worse sleep, and higher pain (vs. ≥65).
Having children <18 was linked to worse pain, sleep, and financial distress.
Findings highlight the need for tailored psychosocial support.”
