New EU-funded Project PredictAYA – European Cancer Organisation
European Cancer Organisation shared a post on LinkedIn:
“New EU-funded project alert! PredictAYA
This groundbreaking international research initiative, coordinated by the Karolinska Institute, launched on 17 June with a kick-off meeting in Stockholm.
PredictAYA brings together experts across disciplines to tackle the long-term reproductive health of adolescent and young adult (AYA) cancer survivors.
Despite high survival rates, many AYAs (aged 15 to 39) face infertility and other long-term side effects after treatment.
PredictAYA aims to:
- Identify biomarkers to predict individual risk of infertility and organ toxicity.
- Use genetics and precision medicine to understand patient-specific treatment effects.
- Develop clinical guidelines to help personalise cancer care and better protect fertility.
This is one of the few projects in Europe focused on long-term survivorship in young cancer patients, improving their quality of life beyond cancer.
