Martyna Wolanska: I Had the Opportunity to Attend the Polish Young Oncologists Forum in Warsaw
Martyna Wolanska, Doctor of Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Last week, I had the opportunity to attend the Polish Young Oncologists Forum in Warsaw (Maria Sklodowska-Curie National Research Institute of Oncology ) organised by Sekcja Młodych Onkologów PTOK and I’m still reflecting on how truly inspiring and energizing the experience was.
The atmosphere was incredibly warm, open, and supportive. It felt like more than just a conference – it was a gathering of passionate young professionals, united by a shared vision for the future of oncology. The quality of the presentations was exceptional: insightful, engaging, and deeply thought-provoking. I felt privileged to be part of such a vibrant community.
It was a nice reaunion with Jonathan Lim, whom I first met during the ESMO Summer Course for Medical Students in 2023. His passion and dedication were what initially convinced me that oncology was the right path for me – and seeing him again on stage presenting first insights from MANIFEST platform only reaffirmed that.
I’m grateful to have met Prof. Joanna Kitlińska, who shared the powerful message that a ‘overnight success’ takes only 17 years.
Another unforgettable talk came from Teresa Amaral , who shared her inspiring journey, ups and downs – from military service to becoming a melanoma specialist, researcher, and Chair of ESMO’s Leadership Development Committee. Her lecture on leading multidisciplinary cancer research teams was equally insightful and motivating.
Małgorzata Osmola showed us how crucial feedback and patient involvement are in real-time treatment monitoring. Her sensitivity to difficult topics like patient-reported outcomes really stood out and gave us all a lot to think about.
And of course, I can’t forget Paweł Sobczuk , who was the driving force behind this conference. I had heard about him from so many doctors and researchers during various oncology workshops and courses for students – and now I fully understand why. His charisma, passion, and energy were contagious.
Finally, I had the chance to meet so many amazing young people – future doctors, colleagues, and, I’m sure, friends and supporters in the years to come.
Already counting down the days to next year’s edition!”
Teresa Amaral, Consultant Medical Oncologist and the Head of Skin Cancer Clinical Trials Center at the Tuebingen University Hospital, shared this post, adding:
“Thank you so much, Martyna Wolanska, for the kind feedback.
It was a pleasure talking to you. Keep up the great work, inspiring others to organize these meetings.
I’m looking forward to working with you in the future.”
