Emil Lou: Excited to Be Part of the Visionary Group Working to Cure Colorectal Cancer
Emil Lou, Professor with tenure at University of Minnesota, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“While ASCO25 has come to a close, the work has only begun.
I am so thrilled to be part of a visionary group of people that has a unified vision of curing colorectalcancer (s) in the years to come and to vastly improve the outlook in a field where (to quote our fearless leader of this initiative, Dr. John Marshall) we haven’t seen changes in chemotherapy options for over 20 years. Now is the time. K-SPY will be the I-SPY of Colorectal Cancer: an Adaptive Therapeutic Trial platform. A Collaboration for the Cure. Patient advocacy partners Colorectal Cancer Alliance led by Michael Sapienza and Yekaterina Chudnovsky are blazing the trail and leading the way. Multi-Center Academic Oversight by a Leadership Council led by Drs. John Marshall, Christopher Lieu, University of Colorado Cancer Center, Scott Kopetz, MD Anderson Cancer Center, Mika Varma, University of California, San Francisco, Kristen Ciombor, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Sunil Sharma, Aparna Parikh, Massachusetts General Hospital, and I am honored to take part representing Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota.
We are so excited. We are working hard for everyone out there affected by coloncancer rectalcancer, of any stage, those diagnosed already and those yet to be diagnosed…we are primed with the help and partnership of Quantum Leap Healthcare Collaborative, Paul Henderson, James Palazzolo and teams, in lockstep partnership with I-SPY founder and fearless leader Dr. Laura Esserman UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center and Dr. Paula R. Pohlmann from MD Anderson Cancer Center.
Many exciting things to come in 2025 and beyond… the mission is clear:
Targeting 3X improvement in survival from CRC.

Let’s go!”
