Julie Torode: Great to see Member States championing the elimination of cervical cancer
Julie Torode, Director of Strategic Partnerships, Patient and Community Engagement, Institute of Cancer Policy at King’s College London, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Great to see Member States championing the elimination of cervical cancer but disappointing that the draft WHO decision on cervical cancer elimination presented to the Executive Board for discussion is so focused on prevention (although important)…
What about the hundreds of thousands of women diagnosed with this disease every year?
The modelling which underpinned the WHO Global Strategy pointed to the fact that there is an impact of all three pillars including building quality health services that can cure cervical cancer – expert gynaecological oncology surgeons and radiation oncology teams that delivery radiotherapy and brachytherapy are essential to beating this disease.”
