“Amazing kickoff breakfast for SummerLark25! Coming again to Bailey Park on May 10 in Winston Salem! This amazing event brings out our whole Piedmont community for an outdoor concert and to raise support for the Cancer Patient Support Program of our Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Ruben A. Mesa, MD, FACP, is the President and Executive Director of Atrium Health Levine Cancer Institute and Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center. He also serves as Vice Dean for Cancer Programs and Professor of Medicine at Wake Forest University School of Medicine. In January 2023, Dr. Mesa took charge of cancer care, research, and education across over 25 Atrium Health sites, including NCI-designated Wake Forest Baptist and Levine Cancer Institute. An expert in hematologic cancers, particularly myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs), Dr. Mesa has led advancements in cancer biology, prevention, therapies, clinical trials, and cancer health disparities, impacting the care of over 20,000 new cancer patients annually.
