Olubukola Ayodele: This meeting has definitely fueled my passion for global oncology
Olubukola Ayodele,
“What a day! It was a fully packed programme at today’s meeting; Global Cancer Control: Bridging Boundaries, which took place at the Royal Society of Medicine. It marked the last event at the London Global Cancer Week.
We had participants from all over the world including the UK, Ireland, India, Canada, USA, New Zealand, Kenya, UAE, Mexico, Columbia, Cameroon, Nigeria, Switzerland, Portugal, Sao Tome and Principe, Botswana, Lebanon to name a few.
It was a pleasure to chair the morning session. Brilliant and thought provoking talks from all the speakers. I will be sharing my learning points with you over the next few days. I have to commend and salute Susie Stanway and Mark Lodge, who are the founders of London Global Cancer Week, which started 8 years ago for a successful programme.
We had global oncology champions represented with the likes of Gilberto Lopes, Ophira Ginsburg, Bhawna Sirohi, Miriam Mutebi, Diana Sarfati, Chinenye Iwuji, Deborah Mukherji, Fatima Cardoso, Bishal Gyawali and Ajay Aggarwal.
Congratulations to Mercy Ofuya, who was the winner of the Vanessa Moss Prize for her work on the development of an educational app to enhance early presentation of breast cancer patients in Nigeria. I finally got to meet Aruni Ghose, a future global oncology leader!
This meeting has definitely fueled my passion for global oncology and I’m looking forward to next year’s meeting where we can all gather and celebrate every win we have accomplished in 2024.”
