“Caregivers shoulder an enormous load – from having to coordinate and arrange logistics to feeling like they bear all responsibility to overwhelming anxiety and fatigue – all while putting on a brave front for their loved one. This study shows the very real, sobering impact a cancer diagnosis has on patients’ spouses.
I’ve seen innovative experiences and resources developed to support the partners of cancer patients. Take, for instance, the incredibly powerful retreats Lillie Shockney hosts for metastatic patients and their partners.
But what about those families who don’t have access or don’t have the time, energy, or capacity to leverage supportive resources? How can we develop practical solutions to meet caregivers where they are and at the right time? To me, this is an opportunity for virtual, on-demand resources to lend significant value. What other innovative solutions have you seen?”
