Ghana Opens First Paediatric Palliative Care Service for Children With Cancer – World Child Cancer

“Celebrating Greyline – Our Africa Corporate Partner
In many parts of sub-Saharan Africa, children with cancer face not only limited access to treatment but also a heartbreaking lack of palliative care. That means many children endure pain, fear, and uncertainty without the vital support they need. In Ghana alone, it’s estimated that 137,000 children require palliative care services annually.
Thanks to the commitment of our Africa Corporate Partners, we’re changing that reality.
In partnership with International Children’s Palliative Care Network, we supported the establishment of Ghana’s first dedicated paediatric palliative care service for children with cancer. This groundbreaking step means children can now access pain relief, psychosocial support, and dignity – whether they’re continuing treatment or nearing end-of-life care.

Palliative care is a vital part of holistic cancer care, ensuring no child suffers unnecessarily, and no family is left to face the hardest moments alone.
We are grateful to Greyline, our 2025 Africa Corporate Partner, for their generous support in helping make this possible.”
