Eduardo Bruera: Uncovering the Links Between Financial Toxicity and Symptom Burden
Eduardo Bruera, Chair of the Department of Palliative, Rehabilitation and Integrative Medicine and Medical Director of the Supportive Care Center at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, shared a post on LinkedIn about his recent article coauthored with colleagues:
“In 211 Italian cancer patients, 60% experienced financial toxicity (COST < 26).
Higher symptom burden correlated with more out-of-pocket (OOP) drug use—mainly analgesics/laxatives—and worse financial toxicity, underscoring the need to assess costs in routine care.”
