Udhayvir Grewal: Important and rare case of NET Chromogranin A tubulopathy
Udhayvir Grewal, Resident Physician at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport Academy Medical Centre, shared a post on X:
“Thrilled to share this important and rare case of neuroendocrine tumor-associated Chromogranin A tubulopathy.
An under-recognized cause of renal insufficiency in NETs.
Does not appear to correlate with CgA levels.
Role of NET-directed therapy/cytoreduction unknown.
Most patients may ultimately develop irreversible renal injury.
Investigations must include renal biopsy for confirmation of diagnosis (see histopath images in tweet below).
NET community- any experiences with treating these patients?
Thank you Matthew Gosse and Andrew Bellizzi for all your help with the case, Chandrikha Chandrasekharan, UI Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center, Internal Medicine at Iowa.
Special thanks to Sanjeev Sethi, Mayo Clinic.”
