
Science is the Cure Research Grant
Kids Beating Cancer invites applications for the 2025 Science is the Cure Research Grant, a two-tiered funding opportunity offering up to $300,000 over three years to advance promising translational research in pediatric blood cancers and solid tumors. This award supports therapeutic development, biomarker discovery, and other impactful innovations aimed at improving outcomes for children with cancer.
Who is eligible?
Applicants must:

Hold an MD, PhD, MD/PhD, or equivalent

Be affiliated with a U.S.-based nonprofit or academic institution

Submit original, unpublished work (updated abstracts may qualify with significant changes)

Demonstrate prior research experience in pediatric cancer

Provide documentation to avoid scientific or budgetary overlap with existing grants

Postdoctoral researchers are eligible to apply
Funding at a glance:

Tier 1: 100,000 USD for 1 year to demonstrate feasibility

Tier 2: 100,000 USD –200,000 USD for up to 2 additional years (invitation-only)

Funds may cover direct costs including personnel, supplies, and equipment
-
Indirect costs, PR, travel, memberships, and non-research expenses are not allowed
Research focus:
Projects must focus on translational research related to pediatric liquid or solid tumors. This includes studies on therapeutic strategies, biomarker development, or other projects with the potential to impact pediatric patient care within several years.
