
ALSF Crazy 8 Initiative – Pediatric Brain Tumor Grant
Large-scale, multi-institution awards to develop more effective, less toxic treatments for pediatric/adolescent brain and spinal cord tumors; emphasizes innovative science, team collaboration, and real-world impact.
Eligibility Criteria:

PI, Co-PIs, Co-Is hold MD/PhD (or equivalent) and faculty appointment; strong record of productivity.

Global, nonprofit host institutions; funds paid in USD.

New teams only: PIs/Co-PIs may not have led a previously funded Crazy 8 project; Co-Is cannot be on a currently funded Crazy 8 team (admin exceptions by request).

Consortium of ≥2 institutions with complementary expertise; patient advocate strongly encouraged.
Funding Details:

Budget range: USD 3–5 million total over 4 years; cost efficiency considered.

Indirect costs up to 10% of total direct costs (may be applied to subawards’ direct costs).

NIH salary cap applies; no renewals (one no-cost extension possible).

Allowable: fringe, supplies, small equipment, travel (include annual Crazy 8 Summit).

Resource/data sharing plan required.

LOI due: November 5, 2025.

Full proposals (by invitation): April 28, 2026.

Finalist virtual presentations: September 2026.
