About Pasi Jänne
Dr. Pasi A. Jänne, MD, PhD, is a leader in the field of thoracic oncology, renowned for his research and transformative clinical contributions. He received his MD and PhD from the University of Pennsylvania in 1996 and completed postgraduate training in internal medicine and medical oncology.
Currently, he is the Senior Vice President for Translational Medicine and the Scientific Director of the Belfer Center for Applied Cancer Science, as well as the Director of ChenHuang Center for EGFR Mutant Lung Cancers at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. He is a Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School.
His main research interests include studying the therapeutic relevance of oncogenic alterations in lung cancer. He was one of the co-discoverers of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) mutations and has led the development of therapeutic strategies for patients with EGFR mutant lung cancer.
Dr. Jänne’s pioneering efforts have not only shaped the landscape of lung cancer treatment but have also paved the way for numerous clinical trials and novel therapies, offering hope to patients worldwide.
He received numerous awards and distinctions among them Outstanding Investigator Award from the National Cancer Institute, Translational Research Award from the European Society for Medical Oncology and Waun Ki Hong Award for Outstanding Achievement in Translational and Clinical Research from American Association for Cancer, Merit Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology and Medal of Honor from the American Cancer Society.
About Gevorg Tamamyan
The host, Dr. Gevorg Tamamyan is the Editor-in-chief of OncoDaily, Head of the Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Armenia, Chairman and Professor of the Department of Hematology and Pediatric Oncology at Yerevan State Medical University, CEO of the Immune Oncology Research Institute, President-Elect of the Pediatric Oncology East and Mediterranean (POEM) Group, Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Cancer and Crisis.
Dr. Tamamyan is the Past-Chair of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) IDEA Steering Group and International Society of Pediatric Oncology (SIOP) PODC Supportive care WG, Ambassador of the Society of Hematologic Oncology.
He was selected for the ASCO Leadership Development Program and currently is a member of the ASCO International Committee. He is a recipient of numerous awards and distinctions, among them the ASCO IDEA and LIFe Awards, 40 under 40 in Cancer Award, he was recognized as a Young Leader of the International Agency for Cancer Research (IARC) and Union for International Cancer Control (UICC).
