Ravi Parikh: My Washington Post op-ed on Biden’s Cancer
Ravi Parikh, Medical Oncologist and Director of the Human-Algorithm Collaboration Lab (HACLab) at Emory University and Winship Cancer Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“My The Washington Post op-ed: Critiquing a public figure is normal nowadays.
But speculation linking President Biden’s stage IV prostate cancer diagnosis, missed screenings, & cognitive decline stigmatizes the many patients thriving as metastatic survivors.”
Ravi Parikh highlighted concerns about public discourse that associates cancer diagnoses with cognitive decline. In his op-ed for The Washington Post, he argued that such narratives contribute to the stigmatization of individuals living with metastatic disease, despite many continuing to lead full, active lives.
