Highlights from ROME LUNG 25: A Global Gathering of Lung Cancer Experts
The 4th International Summit on Lung Cancer—ROME LUNG 25—was held on May 10–11, 2025, at the beautiful Hotel Villa Pamphili in Rome, Italy. This in-person, residential event brought together global leaders in thoracic oncology to explore the latest breakthroughs in lung cancer research, diagnosis, and treatment.
Chaired by internationally recognized oncologists Dr. Federico Cappuzzo, Dr. Lorenza Landi, and Dr. Tina Cascone, the summit delivered a robust scientific agenda. Sessions covered a wide spectrum—from early detection and biomarker-driven strategies to neoadjuvant therapies and the evolving management of metastatic disease. A central theme throughout the meeting was the integration of immunotherapy and targeted therapies into routine clinical practice, highlighting the momentum of precision oncology in lung cancer care.
But ROME LUNG 25 was more than a scientific gathering—it was a celebration of collaboration, mentorship, and community among thoracic oncology experts. Here’s what leading voices had to say:
From the beginning, the meeting impressed with its depth and diversity of content. Dr. Alfredo Addeo shared his gratitude:
“Incredibly grateful to Federico Cappuzzo, Lorenza Landi, Tina Cascone for the invitation to speak at ROME LUNG 25 on oncogene addicted metastatic NSCLC: EGFR. Take home messages: combo treatment better than Osi, Tox requires education and active management. Amazing to be in a session with great experts.”
The conversation around Stage III NSCLC and multidisciplinary care was another highlight. Dr. Cecilia Pompili emphasized:
“Terrific afternoon sessions at ROME LUNG 25.
- Defining and delivering integrated therapies for stage III requires collaboration across disciplines.
- Optimal adj duration still unknown.
Outstanding programme Federico Cappuzzo, Lorenza Landi and Tina Cascone.”
Dr. Biagio Ricciuti noted insightful discussions on treatment approaches for resectable disease:
“Thoughtful presentations by Federico Cappuzzo and Solange Peters dissecting pros and cons of adjuvant/neoadjuvant vs perioperative chemo-immunotherapy in resectable NSCLC at ROME LUNG 25.”
This sentiment was echoed by Dr. Domenico Galetta, who shared:
“Very interesting and intense discussion on the role of neoadjuvant vs perioperative chemo-immunotherapy. There is still no definitive consensus, many questions remain open, but a new path is now fully achievable.”
The conference also highlighted major initiatives in cancer data infrastructure. Dr. Christian Rolfo applauded an Italian registry project:
“Dr Silvia Novello presenting the ATLAS, an important Italian project on testing Cancer Registry. Congratulations to founders and collaborators of this platform at ROME LUNG 25.”
Participants appreciated not just the scientific exchange, but also the global spirit of the meeting. Prof. Siow Ming Lee reflected:
“Deeply grateful to Federico Cappuzzo and team for the honour of attending ROME LUNG 25 in the magnificent city of Rome—made even more historic by the election of a new Pope. Inspiring to connect with global colleagues and discuss the latest advances in lung cancer treatment.”
Dr. Stephen V Liu described the experience as:
“A tremendous 4th Annual Summit on Lung Cancer RomeLung25 chaired by Drs. Federico Cappuzzo, Lorenza Landi and Tina Cascone. Engaging discussions and debates. And a chance to explore Rome with friends afterwards!”
Dr. Jarushka Naidoo summed it up perfectly:
“An incredible educational & community-building experience at ROME LUNG 25.
Thanks to the organizers Federico Cappuzzo, Lorenza Landi & Tina Cascone for a superb conference.
What a privilege to be part of this community.”
From breakthrough research to vibrant debate, and from registry initiatives to heartfelt connection, ROME LUNG 25 was more than a conference—it was a landmark for lung cancer care and collaboration worldwide.
Let’s keep the momentum going.
