Empowering cities to bridge the gap in cancer care through data-driven workforce planning – City Cancer Challenge
City Cancer Challenge shared a post on LinkedIn:
“In cities around the world, the difference between life and death for a cancer patient often comes down to one thing: having the right specialists in the right place at the right time. Yet, by 2030, the world is projected to face a shortage of 10 million healthcare workers, with the impact hitting low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) the hardest. Many of these countries lack the data needed to plan for the cancer workforce they need—leaving patients without access to essential care.
At City Cancer Challenge (C/Can), we believe that better planning leads to better cancer care. Through 209 projects, we’ve already helped train over 5,000 healthcare professionals, strengthening cancer services where they are needed most.
Now, we’re taking it further.
We’re working with cities to develop a data-driven workforce planning tool that estimates the specialists needed based on local cancer incidence and population parameters. Piloting in two cities of the C/Can network, this initiative will create a scalable model that cities worldwide can use to strengthen their cancer workforce strategy and planning.
If you’re interested in supporting this work or learning more, let’s connect.
Together, we can ensure that every cancer patient has access to the care they deserve.”
