
Meet the New AACR Board of Directores for 2025-2028 Term
The American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) has announced the election of five distinguished leaders to its Board of Directors for the 2025-2028 term. These newly elected members bring extensive expertise in cancer research, clinical oncology, and translational medicine.
Meet the New AACR Board Members:
Johann S. de Bono, MD, PhD is Regius Professor of Cancer Research and professor in experimental cancer medicine at The Institute of Cancer Research, London. He is also an honorary consultant medical oncologist at The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, where he directs the Drug Development Unit and leads the Prostate Cancer Targeted Therapy Group.
Mikala Egeblad, PhD is Bloomberg Distinguished Professor of Tumor Microenvironment at Johns Hopkins University and a member of the Convergence Institute. She also serves as associate director of the Giovanis Institute for Translational Cell Biology and co-leader of the Cancer Invasion and Metastasis Program at the Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Crystal L. Mackall, MD, FAACR is Ernest and Amelia Gallo Family Professor at Stanford University and founding director of the Stanford Center for Cancer Cell Therapy. Dr. Mackall is a pioneer in immunotherapy and cellular therapy research.
Charles W.M. Roberts, MD, PhD is Director of the St. Jude Comprehensive Cancer Center and executive vice president of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Dr. Roberts is recognized for his contributions to pediatric oncology and epigenetics research.
Timothy A. Yap, MBBS, PhD is Ransom Horne, Jr. Endowed Professor for Cancer Research at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. He also serves as vice president and head of clinical development in the Therapeutics Discovery Division and associate director of translational research at the Khalifa Institute for Personalized Cancer Therapy.
The Board of Directors will officially begin their new roles on April 28, during the AACR’s Annual Business Meeting of Members at the AACR Annual Meeting 2025 in Chicago.
The addition of these esteemed leaders to the AACR Board of Directors marks an exciting new chapter for the organization. Their collective expertise and dedication to advancing cancer research will play a vital role in shaping the future of cancer treatment and care.
