Terri Laguna, Division Chief at Seattle Children’s Hospital, shared a post by Valerie A. Fitzhugh on Twitter/X, adding:

“And I’m one of the 0.83% of Hispanic women who have been promoted to the rank of Professor in academic medicine. We are rare – and we are mighty. All in for creating havoc and disrupting the status quo. “

Quoting Valerie A. Fitzhugh’s post:

“I’m one of the 0.8% of Black women who have been promoted to the rank of Professor in academic medicine. I understand that I am rare. What if we the rare can change what a Professor is supposed to look like? I believe we can! ”
