Zacharoula Sidiropoulou: AI’s Vision of My Global Cancer Journey

Zacharoula Sidiropoulou, Senior Consultant Breast Surgical Oncologist at Hospital São Francisco Xavier, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“I asked AI to look at my career and draw what it sees.

Apparently, I’m a breast surgical oncologist holding the world in one hand and a clipboard full of cancer data in the other – with the UN logo for the SWTP and P4 Medical Officer, a surgical theater Pantoph(os) lamp, and the Sagrada Família in the background.

Not bad, AI. Not bad. Fancy indeed!

What the image can’t quite capture is the why behind all of it:
Patients and students in Lisbon, the surgical missions in Guinea-Bissau, the studying and mentoring in Barcelona, the late nights dedicated to how communicate with my patients so that a diagnosis doesn’t have to feel like a sentence or to how support and what transmitt to my mentees and students.

I’ve been lucky to stand at the intersection of surgery, research, global health and education. I´ve been lucky to have a totally supportive family and friends.
The globe in my hand is not just a symbol, it is a reminder of how much work there still is to do in access to cancer surgery worldwide. I am not Atlas, I am just one more, systemic thinking and working MD focused on thinking globally but acting locally!

Here’s to the next chapter ( it is really funny).”
