Adwoa Pinamang Boatend Desu, Country Coordinator at World Child Cancer, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“It was an incredibly impactful week in Ghana last week hosting a high-level delegation from Amgen in partnership with World Child Cancer
From visits to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and Greater Accra Regional Hospital, to our engagement at the University of Ghana. It was inspiring to see firsthand the progress being made across paediatric oncology care from clinical service delivery, financial support, to capacity building and psychosocial support.
One standout moment was meeting with Levenia Armah, the Child Life Specialist at Greater Accra Regional Hospital seeing how children, caregivers, and staff value her role, and how it transforms the hospital experience for young patients.
Our visit to the Sunshine Hostel was equally moving, reminding us of the importance of supporting not just the child, but the entire family throughout the treatment journey.
On a personal note, I’m especially grateful to Ponda Motsepe-Ditshego, MD for the beautiful, necklace she gifted me, and her words to always remember her. It was a simple yet deeply meaningful moment I will carry with me.
Partnerships like these continue to show that meaningful impact is possible when we work together. There is still more to be done, but the progress is encouraging.”
Quoting World Child Cancer’s post:
“This is a strong reminder of what sustained collaboration makes possible.
Through our long-term strategic collaboration with Amgen (Sean Lybrand, Philip Anderson), we’re helping to strengthen not just access to treatment, but the systems, skills, and support networks children with cancer, and their families, rely on every day.
It’s steady, long-term work, and that’s what drives lasting change.”
