“When a child is in hospital for cancer treatment, their world can feel very small.
This Children’s Mental Health Week, we’re reflecting on the theme ‘This is My Place’ and what belonging means for children whose place, for a time, is a hospital ward.
As we approach International Childhood Cancer Day (ICCD), this feels especially important. For many children facing cancer, routines pause, friendships are interrupted, and hospital environments can feel unfamiliar and isolating.
In our latest blog, a Family Support Officer in Bangladesh shares how hospital-based play therapy helps children feel emotionally safe, rebuild trust, and connect with others during treatment. It’s a powerful example of what holistic, people-centred childhood cancer care looks like in practice.
