William Dale: Meeting Ethiopian National Leaders in Oncology and Palliative Care in Addis Ababa

William Dale, Professor and Vice Chair for Academic Affairs and Director, Center for Cancer and Aging at City of Hope, shared on LinkedIn:

”I have had the most remarkable week in Addis Ababa, which translates as New Flower, meeting national leaders in Oncology, Palliative Care, Pain Medicine, Hospice, and health care generally. I also learned a tremendous amount about Ethiopia, Addis Ababa, coffee, Ethiopian culture, and African history.

My entire stay was orchestrated by this remarkable woman, a nurse with a graduate degree, named Meaza Wahabe. She somehow found time between her overseeing multiple different leadership positions with Manaaki Health Care and Hope Oncology and Surgical Center, bringing high quality cancer care to people needing it in Africa.

Her energy and drive is amazing, and she seems to know everyone in cancer care in Ethiopia. Plus, her optimistic outlook is infectious. She is a force for good, and I’m so thankful for her guidance and support during my time here.

Thank you Maeza!”
