Walid Kamoun: Weekend Insight – Advances in Brain Tumor Science

Walid Kamoun, Vice President, Global Head of R&D Oncology at Servier, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Weekend Insight: Advances in Brain Tumor Science.

New publication in Nature Portfolio – Nature, Dual tumour – myeloid targeting of glioblastoma with GPNMB CAR-T cells.

A sincere thank you and congratulations to Neil Savage, Sheila K Singh et al for this important contribution to the field of brain tumor and cell therapy.

This work highlights a promising approach by engineering CAR-T cells to target GPNMB expressed both on tumor cells and within the myeloid compartment of the tumor microenvironment. The study demonstrates that dual targeting of tumor cells and immunosuppressive myeloid cells can enhance CAR-T cell activity and overcome key resistance mechanisms in glioblastoma, leading to improved anti-tumor efficacy in preclinical models.

Exciting science that may help unlock new possibilities for the treatment of glioblastoma.”
