Wade Swenson: This Community is Where the Work is Happening

Wade Swenson, Medical Oncologist and Hematologist at Rural Cancer Institute, Professor of Internal Medicine at Anne Burnett Marion School of Medicine at Texas Christian University, Presidential Leadership Scholar, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“The energy at ASCO2026 was different this year.

Not just the science. The people. Researchers, advocates, and educators who are genuinely passionate about moving the needle on cancer care. You could feel it in every conversation.

The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Health Policy Community of Practice has become something special.

Under the leadership of Jasmine Kamboj, it has grown into a vibrant, member-led grassroots network. Exactly what health policy work should look like. Jasmine is passing the torch, and I’m honored to step into co-leadership alongside Ruiling Yuan, MD.

To our keynote Ed Balaban and panelists Chadi Nabhan, Eric Lander, Joanna Metzner-Sadurski, Joshua Pritchett, Vidya Kollu, and Monica Malik, thank you for a sharp, substantive session. This is the conversation that moves policy forward.

This year’s award winners, Enes Erul, Joanna Metzner-Sadurski, and Noha Soror, represent exactly the kind of engaged, policy-minded clinicians this CoP was built to cultivate. Congratulations to all three.

If you care about oncology policy and aren’t yet plugged in: find us. This community is where the work is happening.

Drop a comment if you were there or want to get connected.”
