Vilma Pacheco Barcia, Medical Oncologist and Assistant Professor at University Francisco de Vitoria, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“November marks Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month, and this week we also recognize Malnutrition AwarenessWeek— two global calls to action that are deeply connected.
From the PANTHEIA- Spanish Society of Medical Oncology Research Group, professionals from medical oncology, endocrinology, nutrition, engineers, biologists, biotechnologists and researchers have come together with one common goal: to raise awareness and improve outcomes for people facing pancreatic cancer and cancer-related malnutrition.
Pancreatic cancer remains one of the most challenging cancers and up to 80% have malnutrition.
The PANTHEIA- Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM) Research Group is investigating to:
- Obtain prognostic and predictive biomarkers in metastatic pancreatic cancer.
- Promote early detection of nutritional risk.
- Strengthen multidisciplinary collaboration across all specialties.
- Improve patient-centered care through research, education, and clinical innovation.
- A call to action
During this month and every month, we reaffirm our commitment to: Listen. Support. Research. Innovate. Care.
We would like to express our gratitude to all PANTHEIA investigators, to our patients and to Spanish Society of Medical Oncology.
Join us in raising awareness of pancreatic cancer and cancer-related malnutrition. Together, we can change the story.”
